Flowery Twats

Tim's ever continuing search for the perfect idea to make a million is starting to become contagious. I find myself thinking of schemes during quiet moments ie changing Joe's nappies! And now I think I have found the perfect plan. There is, however, a slight glitch with my idea, as it will undoubtedly make a million, but alas, not for Tim and I.

You see my sudden brain wave came as I was thinking fondly of our visit to blighty and staying in the old rectum, listening to fond reminiscences, the hotel being turned into a mental home, (Scarcroft that is!), stolen tomatoes and microwaves and the unfortunate deep frozen tortoise incident (Case still unsolved). When it suddenly came to me, a book should be written, no, must be written. There is an abundant collection of stories, from the chain smoking dubonnet drinking bridge playing grannie to the baby put in the oven to warm him up because he'd been left out in the cold too long.

For the title I originally thought of something like the James Herriot series, 'It could only happen to a Hotelier', or, 'All guests great and small'. But then I realised the way forward was the Lord, yes the Word according to Basil, Fawlty that is. You could do a number of different books Farty Towels, Fatty Owls, Watery Fowls and or course my personal favourite Flowery Twats!

So a million is to be made but perhaps by the older generation of Wards and Colliers, but maybe we could help edit it!

BookCrossing
Have been looking for a web site similar to our idea on the family bush and came across this web site. The idea is that people leave their read books in interesting places, post instructions on the www.bookcrossing.com website and then the chain continues. We have written down instructions for a book left at Sydney Opera House and might go and try and find it today. Here there are seven or eight books in York now, check it out here.

Nesting
This weekend we've just been unpacking our suitcases and all of the stuff that we didn't get round to unpacking from when we moved from Goodhope Street. The apartment's looking pretty swish now, we've made a long list of things that will make it look even better. We started by going to Supacenter yesterday to buy a nice stand for the TV and HiFi. It's strange how we've picked up the nesting instinct, must be something to do with going home.

Threesome

We made it back yesterday. Joseph was really good on the flight, although we had to keep waking him up to try and encourage him to get him back in the right timezone. I think it worked with him, but Vic and I are waking up at 3.30am raring to go, which is a bit of a novelty.

Lucy's blog pretty much sums up the last three weeks, we had a fantastic time and it was great to see everyone and introduce the new addition to the households. It went very quickly, but we seemed to cram a lot in whilst still enjoying every day as well.

We didn't realise how hectic it has been over the last few months, in fact pretty much the last twelve months. It's been a bit strange getting back and realising that all of our "big events" are over for a while, and now we just have to get back into the swing of things. Roll on Christmas and the Summer!

First day at work was actually really good. After worrying most of the time I was away about what was going on, there seems to have been an honest look at what's been going in relation to the workload and our resources and there seems to have been some really positive ideas coming through. This is a big relief as well, as I was starting to dread going to work each day - which can't be good can it?

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
