Missed itThursday, January 29, 2004
Have missed most of the hoo-hah to do with the Hutton Report, but saw this in the Sun today.
"THE PM’S former top aide Alastair Campbell last night sold his copy of the Hutton Report for £10,000 at a charity auction."
Just about sums him up.

Came across the Pathe News web site that allows you to download all of the old Pathe Newsreels over the Internet. Pretty interesting.
After searching came across an article on the BBC site saying that they plan to put their entire archive online for free access to all over the Internet.
"Dyke to open up BBC archive
Greg Dyke, director general of the BBC, has announced plans to give the public full access to all the corporation's programme archives.
Mr Dyke said on Sunday that everyone would in future be able to download BBC radio and TV programmes from the internet.
The service, the BBC Creative Archive, would be free and available to everyone, as long as they were not intending to use the material for commercial purposes, Mr Dyke added.
"The BBC probably has the best television library in the world," said Mr Dyke, who was speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
"Up until now this huge resource has remained locked up, inaccessible to the public because there hasn't been an effective mechanism for distribution. "

HeadvertiseTuesday, January 27, 2004
Here's one for you Lucy,
"At Headvertise™ we need you, the college student, to run campaigns for our advertisers. We do not have a need for actual man hours, as we have developed a system that will allow you to live your life, while getting paid. You will get paid for time spent in class, time eating, time in the dorms, time meandering the campus, even time sleeping. Our only requirement is that you are shameless and outgoing, as our campaigns require you to modify your appearance for one school week at a time.
I'm sure you're asking yourself, 'What kind of modification are we talking about?' Well, simply put, it is not a permanent change, but something that will get you individually noticed in any crowd. What we do is supply you a temporary tattoo, which will be placed on your forehead, by our regional representatives. You will then wear this tattoo on your forehead for your school week, receiving a handsome reward for your participation in the campaign.
The weekly pay you will receive will vary from student to student, and is determined by the survey results and the scope of advertising campaigns. The average student will earn $150 per week, with some variance above and below that figure."

MikeRoweSoft.com
Nice quote from teenager, Mike Rowe following his settlement with Microsoft for trademark infringement.
"Sorry there hasn’t been a lot of news posted by me lately, I have been very busy with school, exams, the media, new website and settling with Microsoft. "
Sounds like he did quite well out of the deal with Holiday, Certification, X-box games and web site hosting all paid for by Bill.

We are AustralianTuesday, January 20, 2004
Enjoyed yesterday's Australia Day celebrations yesterday (albeit mostly in an Irish pub!).
The Australia Day web site tells us:
Australia Day, January 26, is the biggest day of celebration in the country.
On Australia Day we celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation.
You can even say the affirmation,
As an Australian citizen
* I affirm my loyalty to Australia and its people
Whose democratic beliefs I share
Whose rights and liberties I respect
And whose laws I uphold and obey
* Non Australian citizens may join in the affirmation at this line

eBayMonday, January 12, 2004
Heinz are celebrating their 75th year in business this year, and have apparently "hidden" 75 tins of baked beans on the shelves of supermarkets with a deliberate misprint on the label. The label reads 75 varieties instead of 57 varieties. A man bought such a tin, and realised his prized purchase on returing home. Instead of having beans on toast that evening, he decided to auction the beans on eBay.
The final bid on the beans was 730 pounds from a collector of Heinz memorabilia.
Two questions. What would have happened before eBay existed? and What did the guy spend his 730 pounds on?

Lord of the Lord of the RingsMonday, January 05, 2004
Went to see the final "Return of the King" yesterday with Geoff. Very good, although for some reason the air conditioning in the cinema was on the "Iceland in Winter" setting and we sat there shivering for the best part of three hours whilst sipping ice cold sprite for warmth.
I wonder what Peter Jackson will do with himself now, there is a rumour that he is going to do a remake of King Kong. He could well cast himself in the leading role, if he continues to refuse to have a tidy shave.
All is well in the apartment. Joseph is now fully mobile, and is capable of a rapid crawl, a nifty "up on my feet" manouvre and where's my milk type of hand gesture. He can also accurately identify shining lights via a blinking motion with his hands. Ok, I know it's not enough to get you through life, but I think it's impressive nonetheless.

Back to Work
Well back to work today, although still very quiet with most people taking an extended break, v.sensible. Stephen and Steffi have booked into a quiet lodge in the Blue Mountains for a couple of days, which will be nice, leaving Geoff, Anne, Victoria and I to attempt the world record for the most consecutive number of Barbeque meals consumed.
Weather has been very good this week, and we are all getting nicely browned. We took Joseph to Manly at the weekend, but I think he must have got some sand in his nappy early on as he was a little bit whingy. It could be that his top teeth are giving him a bit of jip as they are just bursting through at the moment.
He is in our room at the moment, and is now consistently waking up at around 6am in the morning, it reminded me that I haven't needed to set my alarm clock for around 9 months now. Perhaps I should sell it on eBay, as I get the feeling we won't be needing it for a while.
Hope everyone is well back at home and recovering from the Christmas and New festivities.
